PNP reminds LGUs all quarantine controls must be set up with police

The Philippine National Police (PNP) reminded Local Government Units (LGU) all quarantine control points they will establish must be supervised by police personnel to ensure uniform implementation of guidelines to enforce the Enhanced Community Quarantine.

“Upon instructions of PNP chief, Police General Archie Francisco Gamboa, a memorandum circulated today to all regional directors of Police Regional Offices by Police Major General Emmanuel Luis Licup, PNP Director for Operations, ordering PNP unit commanders and chiefs of police to ensure that all quarantine control points established by city, municipal and barangay local governments are properly supervised by local PNP units,” said Police Brigadier General Bernard Banac, the PNP spokesman,  in a statement  Wednesday night.

Banac said the same memorandum also directed chiefs of police to ensure that all quarantine control points comply with the guidelines set by the Joint Task Force CV Shield and the Inter Agency Task Force for the Management Emerging Infectious Disease (IATF-MEID) to restrict movement of people during the one-month enhanced community quarantine.

“Under IATF-MEID guidelines, QCPs shall be established by the Joint Task Force Coronavirus Shield (JTF CV Shield) composed of PNP, AFP, PCG, BFP from national to municipal levels. All QCPs at the Barangay level must be coordinated with the Municipal Joint Task Group and directly supervised by the PNP unit commander or chief of police,” he said.

The PNP said among guidelines observed in QCPs are unimpeded passage of food products, basic and essential commodities and authorized personnel categorized in the medical, agricultural, industrial and utilities sectors. Ella Dionisio/DMS
