January 10, 2020
The Philippine National Police ( PNP) on Friday said the death of a former general in Calasiao, Pangasinan Thursday could be work-related.
Police Brigadier General Bernard Banac, the PNP spokesman, told reporters said the Ilocos region police is still investigating the death of retired Police Brigadier General Marlou Chan who was ambushed in Barangay Nalsian Thursday afternoon.
“All possible angles are being looked ( at) and it is possible that this is related to the previous work of the victim since he is a former police brigadier general,” Banac said.
“We all know that when we are in service, there are possibilities that some criminal groups or syndicates are being affected by our job,” he added.
Banac said this is only one of the possible motives being examined by tprobers.
Chan was deputy director of the Directorate for Integrated Police Operations in Southern Luzon and police director of Pangasinan in 2013.
He retired from the service last March 2019. Ella Dionisio/DMS
