PNP says CIDG complaint vs Robredo, others backed by evidence
July 25, 2019
The head of the Philippine National Police (PNP) said the complaint filed by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) is backed with "substantial" evidence.
"As I have said earlier, it's substantial because they are supported by documentary evidence and other sources, that is according to the investigation conducted by the CIDG," said Police General Oscar Albayalde in a TV interview.
He explained that Peter Advincula or Bikoy's statements were not the sole basis for filing sedition raps against Vice President Leni Robredo and other known critics of President Rodrigo Duterte for an alleged plot to oust the president.
"Remember the statements of Advincula accordingly were substantially accurate because they were supported by documentary evidence and other sources. The CIDG did not only rely on the allegations of Bikoy here. They have other documentary evidence," Albayalde said.
Albayalde said though there is a possiblity of a commission of a crime, PNP does not assume that Robredo is guilty of alleged ouster plots as revealed by Advincula in his "Ang Totoong Narcolist" video series.
"First of all, she was implicated by no less than Peter Advincula and as I have said earlier, some sources also said that probably there's a possibility here. I am not saying the vice president is guilty. There is a possibility that she is involved," Albayalde said.
The PNP chief denied siding with Advincula .
"We are not saying we trust Bikoy that is why the credibility lies on the discretion of the court. What we are trying to point out here is that there is a possibility of commission of a crime. That is the very reason we did not sorely rely on the affidavit of Bikoy," he said.
"I think since the very start we said Bikoy has to support his allegations with evidence. That's just what precisely he did. He came out with his computer, his laptop and all other sources according to investigations," he added.
Albayalde said it is up to the Department of Justice and the court if they will find a possibility Robredo and others were involved in an alleged plot against the president. Cristina Eloisa Baclig/DMS
