PNP says destab angle vs Duterte a ”possibility”
April 22, 2019
The Philippine National Police ( PNP) on Monday said there is a possibility that the release of “Bikoy” videos are meant to destabilize President Rodrigo Duterte and those who are close with him.
Police General Oscar Albayalde, the PNP chief, said they still don’t have specific evidence to prove that but there is a possibility.
“As of this time, we don’t have specific evidence on that. There’s a possibility it’s because the attack is very personal. It is always focused on the president, always focused on this administration,” Albayalde said in a press briefing.
“So there’s a possibility. We are not discounting the fact that there’s a destabilization plot,” he added.
The PNP chief said based on his latest feedback from the Anti-Cybercrime Group, they have not established the identity of ''Bikoy'' and those behind his existence.
“He is using a false account so as of this time, they (ACG) are still monitoring who is Bikoy and who is behind these uploading of defamation videos,” said Albayalde.
Albayalde said he is sure someone other than Bikoy is behind the videos.
“There is someone doing it because it is really scripted and I’m sure there are few financier, I don’t know how big but there I’m sure it has support,” he said.
A few hours after the press briefing in Camp Crame, Presidential spokesperson Salvador Panelo released a matrix linking Bikoy to his alleged “financiers”.
