PNP says election-related incidents fewer

The Philippine National Police ( PNP) on Friday said they have recorded fewer number of election-related incidents compared to the 2016 polls with less than two weeks before the elections.
Police Colonel Bernard Banac, the PNP spokesperson, said they recorded only 22 election-related incidents nationwide compared to 106 incidents in 2016.
"Twenty-two incidents are very low, compared to 106 incidents of same campaign period in 2016," Banac told reporters.
Out of the 22 incidents, 10 were deaths, The victims were candidates or their supporters.
The number is lower from 2016's record of at least 50 deaths related to elections.
Banac said they are still validating if all these incidents were really election-related.
The PNP will remain on full alert status despite of no threats being recorded as they deployed 160,000 police personnel compared to previous 140,000 last presidential election.
