The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Tuesday insisted they are still "winning" the drug war amid controversy.
In a television interview over ANC, PNP Officer-in-Charge Lt. Gen. Archie Gamboa said the credibility of the police force remainss the same.
"I think we are winning the drug war. The PNP is winning the drug war. This controversy that hounded us might be a temporary setback but I assure the public we can regain our stance and pursue our campaign," explained Gamboa.
Baguio City Mayor and ex-PNP Criminal and Investigation Detection Group (CIDG) chief Benjamin Magalong claimed PNP chief General Oscar Albayalde is involved with ninja cops.
In previous Senate hearings, Magalong also accused Albayalde of protecting cops involved in the 2013 Pampanga drug raid where there was alleged recycling of seized illegal drugs.
"It's only a very isolated case which happened in 2013 way beyond the start of this administration in 2016," Gamboa said. Cristina Eloisa Baclig/DMS
