PNP says probe into death of solon, cop “proceeding well”

The Philippine National Police (PNP) said Friday its investigation into the killing of AKO Bicol Partylist Rep. Rodel Batocabe and his bodyguard in Daraga town in Albay province is "proceeding well" and its cause is "most likely political"
"Our investigation is proceeding well," said PNP Director General Oscar Albayalde in an ambush interview in Bocaue, Bulacan.
"We have good leads and we are confident we can solve this case," added Albayalde.
Batocabe and his bodyguard, SPO1 Orlando Diaz, were shot by six unidentified suspects after a gift-giving activity for senior citizens and persons with disabilities last Saturday.
President Rodrigo Duterte raised the bounty for the killers of Batocabe to P50 million by adding P20 million when he visited the wake of Batocabe in Daragay Wednesday night.
Batocabe's wife allegedly accused Daraga town Mayor Carlwyn Bado as one of the suspects in killing his husband.
Albayalde refused to reveal the suspects and added that "there is no substantial evidence against them but it does not mean they don't have any involvement." DMS
