PNP tells public to disregard messages of alleged terrorist attacks
September 24, 2019
The Philippine National Police ( PNP) on Tuesday reminded the public to disregard any information shared through anonymous messages related to alleged terrorist attacks in the country to prevent panic and alarm.
“We urge the public to disregard such message and to stop passing it on to others so as not to cause undue panic or alarm,” said Police Brigadier General Bernard Banac, PNP spokesman, in a statement.
“Competent authorities release public safety advisory by way of properly identified and formal channels; not through allegations or anonymous text messages,” he added.
The PNP made the statement after a message circulated about alleged vehicles of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) in Cagayan Valley targeting churches in the area.
Last month, a same message circulated in the Ilocos Region but the PNP said there is no evidence of a possible ISIS threat in Luzon. Ella Dionisio/DMS
