PNP to implement designated lanes to ease traffic in checkpoints
March 19, 2020
The chief of Philippine National Police (PNP) on Thursday said they will implement designated lanes to ease traffic in quarantine checkpoints.
“I have directed the Directorate for Operations to disseminate the suggestion on special lanes. I said it is better to create special lanes for the essential (workers), health workers, the food deliveries, pedestrians so that we can develop the expertise of the police manning (checkpoints) because they already know what requirements to ask and hopefully this would ease those who are entering,” said Police General Archie Francisco Gamboa in a radio interview.
Gamboa said they will exert their “best effort” to implement the designated lanes Thursday.
“We will try our best because we just disseminated it yesterday. Maybe they are still printing their tarpaulin but we will exert our best effort to implement it today,” he said.
Gamboa said they also released general guidelines for their personnel outside Luzon.
“We have certain restriction applicable only for Luzon due to enhanced community quarantine. In other places we also have general guidelines but basically very stringent is for Luzon. Other LGUs are not discouraged to do also their own just like the other region or to be specific Davao City,” he said.
“So if there is also (quarantine) in other regions then our applicable rules here in Luzon may be apply to those who will declare enhanced community quarantine,” Gamboa added. Ella Dionisio/DMS
