PNP to provide police escorts to vehicles providing food, basic necessities

The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Tuesday said they will be providing police escorts to vehicles delivering food items and other basic necessities to ensure it will reach its respective areas of deliver.
In a TV interview, Police General Archie Francisco Gamboa said theyhad an agreement with the Armed Forces of the Philippines that all delivery vehicles passing checkpoints will be given escorts.
“We agreed with the Armed Forces that all of these checkpoints in expressways if a vehicle, say, (is) carrying delivery goods for grocery, we would provide escorts to ensure that it would really go to groceries,” Gamboa said.
The PNP chief made the assurance as private establishments providing basic needs and activities related to food and medicine production were allowed to operate under enhanced community quarantine.
Exempted facilities are public markets, supermarkets, groceries, convenience stores, hospitals, medical clinics, pharmacies and drug stores, food preparation and delivery services, water-refilling stations, manufacturing and processing plants of basic food products and medicines, banks, money transfer services, power, energy, water and telecommunications supplies and facilities.
