PNP to study designating lanes for authorized vehicles

March 18, 2020

The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Wednesday said they will study a proposal of creating designated lanes for authorized vehicles and persons in quarantine lanes, after some health workers had a hard time entering control points.

Police Brigadier General Bernard Banac, PNP spokesperson, said separate lane for delivery and cargo trucks were already created.

“Right now, we already separated the lane for delivery of foods and cargo… the motorisst and commuters will remain the same… maybe in the coming days, more lanes will be open for different kind of sectors and groups. As we go on there will be adjustment,” Banac said in a press briefing.

Banac said separate lanes were created on the north and south expressways for cargo and delivery trucks so delivery of food, agriculture products in Metro Manila will not be hampered.

“We are just finding out if the situation is the same at the McArthur Highway and other major arteries leading to Metro Manila,” he said.

According to the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), they  designated a lane for deliveries on major checkpoints while they are still looking for a place on chokepoints.

“So we assure the public that the traffic flow will be smoother for those who are entering and going out of Metro Manila,” Banac said.

Banac appealed for the public’s patience and understanding as they continue to improve the situation under the enhanced community quarantine.

“Day by day there is a progress (and) improvement. We can assure everyone that the situation will improve in the coming days,” Banac said. Ella Dionisio/DMS
