The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Friday warned those who will attend summer parties to not give and use party drugs or they will face charges.

In a radio interview on Friday, PNP spokesperson, Police Col. Bernard Banac said party drugs are very common at parties.

He said part of their police deployment under the Oplan Ligtas Summer Vacation is to deploy personnel to frequently visited tourist destinations.

“We are warning them to not use (party drugs) because if we are caught or got involved in this kind of activity, for sure you will go to jail,” said Banac.

He said the event organizers are required to coordinate with the local police to ensure the safety of the people.

“We are also reminding the organizers to cooperate with us or for them to look if one of the party goers looks suspicious and has a party drugs,” he said.

Banac said users place the drugs on other people’s drink. He said people must careful getting drinks from strangers and go with people they know.

He added police are ready to give security assistance and will arrest any suspicious looking person, especially those who will resist checking their belongings.

“We are prepared in giving additional security, perimeter security only but for other concerns like checking things and bags. It’s up to the organizers since it’s a private event,” said Banac.

“We don’t want to interfere in their event but if the hint is valid or there are report that a certain person has an illegal drugs or suspected pusher then by all means our police will immediately call out the person,” he added.

Banac urged the public to report any suspicious person as it will help them in the PNP's anti-illegal drugs campaign.

He said drug syndicates are promoting drugs during events thus they must be arrested.

Oplan SumVAc was launched last Monday in preparation for summer vacation. The PNP has deployed around 77,000 personnel for this. Ella Dionisio/DMS
