PNP welcomes 20% fare discount to personnel

February 13, 2019

The Philippine National Police (PNP) welcomed the 20 percent fare discount by the Land Transportation and Franchising Regulatory Board and bus operators.

“This is a big development for our policemen, to have a discount on public transport. This is a big thing in increasing their morale especially those who live in far places,” Senior Superintendent Bernand Banac, PNP spokesperson, said in a radio interview with the Daily Manila Shimbun on Wednesday.

Banac said those who are giving discount to uniformed personnel even before the signing of memorandum of agreement appreciate the service they are getting.

“It is a proof of their respect and appreciation to our public service,” he said.

On Monday, LTFRB, officials from PNP, Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and Philippine Coast Guard (PCG)  with 18 transport bus operators signed a memorandum of agreement gratuity and generosity to grant a 20 percent fare discount to uniformed personnel.

AFP, PNP and PCG personnel who are in active service must present their valid ID to enjoy the privilege. Ella Dionisio/DMS
