Poe tops Pulse Asia senatorial survey

Senator Grace Poe led the Pulse Asia senatorial survey, posting a big lead over fellow Senator Cynthia Villar for the 2019 midterm elections, the polling firm said Wednesday.

Poe, who lost the 2016 presidential elections, got 75.6 percent while Villar got 66.6 percent. The survey was done from December 14-21 2018 with 1,800 respondents nationwide.

''Fifteen have a statistical chance of winning. Virtually all of these probable winners are either incumbent or former members,'' said Pulse Asia. The lone exception is former Philippine National Police chief Ronald dela Rosa, who is tied from eighth to 15th places.

Pulse Asia added that ''43 percent of Filipino registered voters have 12 preferred senatorial bets for the midterm elections."

Statistically tied for third to fourth were Senator Sonny Angara and Taguig Rep. Pia Cayetano with 58.5 and 55.4 percent.Sharing fifth to seventh statistically were former Senator Lito Lapid with 49.8 percent, Senator Nancy Binay (46.7 percent) and Senator Koko Pimentel (45.5 percent).

Tied from eighth to 15th were former Senator Serge Osmena (38.8 percent0, former Senator Bong Revilla (37.6 percent), Ilocos Norte Gov. Imee Marcos (36.7 percent), former Senator Jinggoy Estrada (36.3 percent) and dela Rosa (35.7 percent).

Next are Senators JV Ejercito (33.6 percent) and Bam Aquino (32.6 percent).

Former Special Presidental Assistant Bong Go follows with 35 percent, then Francis Tolentino (19.4 percent) and former Senator Juan Ponce Enrile (19 percent). DMS
