Police eye Parojinog link to five suspects in Manila bank rob
July 15, 2019
Police on Monday said there are five suspects in Thursday's bank robbery in Binondo and they may have ties with the Parojinog Group based in Ozamis City
During a meeting with Manila Mayor Isko Moreno, Manila Police District head Brigadier General Vicente Danao identified the suspects as Marlon Parojinog, Gilcar Mofan, Noli Casuela, Michael Calunod, and Frederex Secretario.
Danao said they have identified the suspects through the CCTV record outside the robbed Metrobank branch.
In an interview over dzMM, National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) chief Major General Guillermo Eleazar said the suspects were involved in robberies and and other crimes.
"Based on the investigation of the Manila Police District, they identified the suspects who were involved in robbery holdups and other illegal activity. They are also possibly connected to the Parojinog Group," Eleazar said.
The patriarch of the Parojinog Group along with family members and associates were killed as they fought police trying to serve an search warrant in 2017.
Eleazar said authorities are not discounting that the robbery was an inside job.
"It was mentioned and considered before but there is no evidence yet. However, it is not being discounted," he explained.
Authorities said Metrobank have not given the CCTV of the robbery.
"This is my first time to encounter an uncooperative victim. That's the saddest part," Moreno said.
Moreno said they have yet to find out how much was stolen from the bank.
"If you are going to ask us how much money was stolen, we still don't know," he said. Cristina Eloisa Baclig/DMS
