Police nab MMDA enforcer for getting money from buses

Police arrested a Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) traffic enforcer after he was caught receiving money from bus conductors in Mandaluyong City last Wednesday night.
Police Major Virgilio Timajo, public information officer of Eastern Police District (EPD), said arrested was Rodrigo Maghanoy, 47, arrested around 8:20 pm at EDSA southbound in Barangay Wack-Wack.
Timajo said a police officer who was on patrol received a complaint about the filing up of passenger bus in front of the Polar Building causing heavy traffic.
“Therefore, Police Staff Sergeant Joselito Capito had alighted in mobile and observed and noticed that each bus conductor (are) secretly placing P20 in a plant box near the motorcycle of the above suspect parked,” he said.
In return for amount, Maghanoy had consented in disregarding traffic rules made by buses.
The suspect was arrested after he went to the plant box and collected the crumpled money amounting to P260.
Maghanoy will face charges for violating Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees and Anti-Graft and Corruption Practices Act. Ella Dionisio/DMS
