Police offering P80,000 reward for information on two suspects in broadcaster’s killing

November 11, 2019

The Central Visayas regional police on Monday said they are offering a P80,000 reward for the arrest of the two remaining suspects involved in the killing of radio broadcaster Dindo Generoso last Nov.7

In a statement, the Central Visayas regional police said Negros Oriental provincial police chief Colonel Julian Entoma is giving an initial amount of P80, 000 reward will be given to anyone who can give information on Police Corporal Roger Rubio and alleged gambling lord Tomacino Aledro.

Rubio and Aledro are facing murder charges with two others in connection with the death of Generoso.

The two other suspects were arrested earlier and facing murder charge were Teddy Reyes Salaw and retired policeman Glenn Corsame, said Entoma.

Investigators said Salaw is the brother-in-law of Aledro who reportedly fled  to the United States.

Entoma said he is coordinating with the Bureau of Immigration (BI) on Aledro’s reported flight. Entoma said Rubio, a member of the 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company, could still be in Negros peninsula.

Entoma said the reward came from a concerned citizen. The amount could be raised to more than a million pesos as more donors “are giving their support” for the immediate arrest of all the suspects including the mastermind.

Police said Aledro owns the Mitsubishi pick-up used by the other suspects in the murder. The car was recovered by a tracker team in Valencia City.

The Presidential Task Force on Media Security had earlier said an influential local politician could be behind the killing.

The task force said in reports that Aledro is a financier of illegal gambling specially “bookies” with the Small Town Lottery (STL) of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) operating in Negros Oriental.

The authorized STL agent in the province is Four Aces (not Red Carpet as earlier reported) and Aledro was allegedly its “dummy financier”.

Meanwhile, Central Visayas police chief, Police Brigadier General Val de Leon directed Entoma and the investigators to focus on establishing “air-tight” evidence against the mastermind.

At least five tracker teams were sent out to find and arrest the suspects.

Generoso was killed by a gunman on a motorcycle on Nov.7 while driving his car on his way for his morning radio program in Barangay Piapi, Dumaguete City.

The victim was reportedly a hard-hitting commentator. Police said other possible motives into his murder were politics and land dispute. Ella Dionisio/DMS
