PNP Maritime Group officer arrested for allegedly extorting money from fishermen

An officer of the Philippine National Police (PNP) Maritime Group was arrested in Cavite for allegedly extorting money from fishermen.
According to a report, agents from the Counter-Intelligence Task Force and elements from Intelligence Group arrested in an entrapment operation Supt. Armandy Dimabuyo, chief of the 402nd Cavite Maritime Police Station in Brgy Julugan V inside the police facility around 7am.
CITF Commander Romeo Caramat said the operation stemmed from complaints they received at the national headquarters from several owners of motorized bancas on the suspect’s alleged demand for money amounting P19,000 to P21,000 a month from the fishermen's association.
Dimabuyo was caught in the act of receiving the marked money from the complainant amounting P18,000.
Caramat said filing of appropriate criminal and administrative cases is underway against the arrested police officer.
Dimabuyo is now under the custody of CITF for proper disposition and filing of necessary charges.
PNP Maritime Group Director, Chief Supt. Rodelio Jocson said all personnel of the Cavite Maritime Station were relieved and replaced by the Special Operations Unit under Supt. Gaylord Tamayo.
