Police officer in Duterte list positive for illegal drugs: Sinas
February 21, 2020
One of the police officers included in President Rodrigo Duterte’s drug list tested positive for illegal drugs, according to National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) chief Major General Debold Sinas.
In a press briefing, Sinas said Police Staff Sergeant Ronald Carpio is one of the 31 cops who were ordered to report at Camp Bagong Diwa in Bicutan, Taguig City for their adjudication process.
“Police Staff Sergeant Ronald Carpio were tested positive for the use of shabu (and) he is included in the 357 (included in) the watchlist ofso-called suspected ninja cop,” Sinas said.
He said this proves that Duterte's list has credibility.
Sinas said of the 31 cops, nine were marked absent without leave (AWOL) for failing to report.
“That’s why only 22 underwent drug test. They were marked AWOL so that the (national headquarters) can cut their salary and hopefully will be dismissed from service,” he said.
Meanwhile, following a random drug test since he assumed office October last year, Sinas said seven police officers were tested positive of illegal drug use.
“For my time, since October to date, we already have seven who were found positive during random drug test of our personnel. Six are police non-commissioned officers and one police commissioned officer,” he said.
Sinas said the latest cop who tested positive came from the Muntinlupa City Police Station. The seven are now assigned at the regional personnel holding and accounting unit, added Sinas. Ella Dionisio/DMS
