Police rescue South Korean kidnap victim

A South Korean was rescued in Makati City on Monday, the Philippine National Police Anti-Kidnapping Group (PNP-AKG) said Tuesday.
AKG director Col. Glenn Dumlao said Han Jongwook, 26, was rescued in Makati at around 11:30 p.m.
Police said the suspect, Korean national Sangmin Lee, 34, a resident of Legaspi Village, surrendered.
He is facing charges of kidnapping with ransom and serious illegal detention.
Dumlao said Han was kidnapped sometime March 27. He sent a voice message to his father several men are demanding $5 million in ransom.
His father gave an initial amount of $17,000 on April 8, the suspects still did not release him
The South Korean Embassy sought the assistance of the AKG which conducted a rescue operation. DMS
