Police say Japanese restaurant was not robbed last Monday

February 15, 2019

National Capital Region Police Director Guillermo Eleazar on Friday belied reports a Japanese restaurant in Quezon City was held up last February 11.

Eleazar denounced the post circulating in social media about an alleged robbery at Nomiya Izakaya Japanese restaurant located at No. 36 Scout Tobias, cor. Dr. Lazcano Street, Brgy. Laging Handa in Quezon City.

“The text or SMS circulating around about a holdup incident in Nomiya Izakaya Japanese restaurant last February 11, 2019 is not truth,” Eleazar said in a statement.

He said the information is “fake news” as the management and employees are saying it is not true.

Upon receipt of the information, Eleazar directed Quezon City Police Director Chief Supt. Joselito Esquivel Jr. to conduct validation. The manager of the restaurant, security personnel and other employees denied their restaurant nor any customer were robbed.

Eleazar said further investigation showed there was a robbery hold-up on June 1, 2018 at Nomiya Izakaya Restaurant.

“Since then, there no such incident of robbery happened in the same restaurant,” he said.

In that robbery incident, one of the robbers was slain in an encounter with Kamuning Police Station 10 cops on June 6, 2018.

Eleazar called on the public to be more circumspect in sharing text messages or even posting and sharing posts in the social media.

"I’m appealing to the public to be responsible in posting on their social media to prevent in spreading wrong information or fake new,” he said. Ella Dionisio/DMS
