March 18, 2020
Authorities confiscated P4 million worth of illegal drugs during a police operation in Taguig City early Wednesday morning.
Police Major General Debold Sinas, the National Capitol Region director, said Gilberto Lagunzad, 29, was arrested during an anti-criminality campaign around 3 am along Maharlika Road corner A. Bonifacio Avenue, Barangay Upper Bicutan in Taguig City.
Police found 12 pieces of illegal drugs or shabu in his possession which resulted in his arrest.
The confiscated illegal drugs weigh around 600 grams with estimated street value of P4, 080, 000.
"This is the very reason local police were not deployed to the boarders of Metro Manila but rather, they were retained within their areas of responsibility to continue their anti-criminality and anti-illegal drug operations,” Sinas said.
“It is indeed disappointing that despite of the danger caused by COVID 19, there are still some people who are taking advantage of the situation to do their illegal activities. Nevertheless, the police force is ready to serve and protect our community 24/7 from all forms of criminality and prevention of drug proliferation,” he added.
The arrested suspect will be charging for violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. Ella Dionisio/DMS
