Police shot dead by motorcycle-riding gunman in Batangas

A police officer was shot dead by a motorcycle-riding gunman as he was returning to his station after a family gathering held at a resort in Batangas City Sunday evening.

A report by the Batangas Provincial Police Office said slain was SPO1 Roderick Botavara of the Balayan Municipal Police Station.

The report said Botavara was returning from Malabanan Resort when he was shot in the head by a motorcycle rider in Barangay District 6, Balayan around 7:05 pm. 

The suspect, who was wearing a black jacket, fled carrying the gun used for the crime, the report said. 

Botavara was rushed to the Medical Center Western Batangas in Barangay Lanatan but was declared dead at 11:17 pm. DMS
