One policeman was killed while seven were injured in a roadside bomb explosion in North Cotabato Monday evening.
A report from the Cotabato Police Provincial Office said the fatality was PO1 Christopher Anadon.
After the bomb exploded along Purok 4- Kabisig Brgy. Poblacion in Magpet around 6 pm, gunfire from suspected New People’s Army (NPAs) erupted, prompting police to retaliate. Their vehicles sustained major damage.
The wounded cops preferred to stay at their station aside from a certain PO1 Stephen Batoon who was brought to a hospital with Anadon who was declared dead by the attending physician.
Philippine National Police Director General Oscar Albayalde said this incident has no connection with the twin blasts in Jolo, Sulu last Sunday. Ella Dionisio/DMS
