Preliminary exams under new working visa system set April

Preliminary examinations under the new working visa system to Japan are set to be held in Manila.
According to Japan's Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare, the first round of examinations for the "specified skill type 1" visa will be held in the Ateneo de Manila University located at Katipunan, Quezon City on April 13 - 14.
The examination will cover nursing skills and expertise evaluation test and Japanese language proficiency test.
Based on the agreement between the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and its Japanese counterpart, those who will pass the tests will work and reside in Japan with a "specified skilled worker" residence status granted by the Japanese government.
Interested applicants or examiners are instructed to book an appointment online starting from March 20 until April 14. A test fee worth P1,000 will also be collected from those taking the exam.
Skill tests for food industry will take place in Tokyo and Osaka on April 25. Tests for hotel industry will also be conducted in Sapporo, Tokyo, Fukuoka and four other cities in Japan on April 14.
