PSE ends lower, peso gains vs US dollar

The main Philippine stock index ended lower on Friday, a day after the central bank cut policy rates for the third time this year.
The peso gained, finishing at P51.875 against the US dollar from P52.11 on Thursday. Volume at the foreign exchange portal of the Bankers Association of the Philippines amounted to $1.209 billion from $1.147 billion.
The Philippine Stock Exchange ( PSE) index closed at 7,819.22 points, down 77.26. In the broader market, there were 133 losers, 57 gainers and 43 unchanged.
Volume reached 1.48 billion shares worth P5.93 billion from Thursday's 773.24 million valued at P5.69 billion.
Most active shares were led by Ayala Land, down five centavos to P49.30; Megaworld, down 33 centavos to P4.45 and ICTSI, down P4.50 to P122.50. DMS
