PSE index back above 8,000-point mark

The Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) index finished the week above the 8,000-point mark but the peso lost ground against the US dollar on Friday.
The peso ended at P52.515 from P52.41. Volume at the foreign exchange of the Bankers Association of the Philippines logged $807.22 million from the previous session's $932.22 million.
The index settled at 8,047.12, up 119.92 points. In the broader market, there were 111 gainers, 76 decliners and 59 shares unchanged.
Volume reached 1.86 billion shares worth P8.44 billion from Thursday's 1.22 billion valued at P14.17 billion.
Most active shares were led by BDO Unibank, up 0.76 percent to P132; SM Prime, up 2.87 percent to P39.40 and Cemex Philippines Holdings, up 1.8 percent to P2.49. DMS
