PSE index closes 1.34 percent lower

The Philippine Stock Exchange index closed down 1.34 percent lower or 101.55 points lower, to 7,475.16 points, its lowest since January, on Thursday.
In the broader market, there were 116 decliners, 78 gainers and 45 shares unchanged.
Volume rose to 2.33 billion shares worth P8.56 billion from Wednesday's 761.08 million shares valued at P7.23 billion.
Most active shares were led by Ayala Corp., down 4.77 percent to P838; Ayala Land, down 0.85 percent to P46.80 and Jollibee. down 2.73 percent to P285.
The peso closed at P52.48 against the US dollar from P52.35 on Wednesday. Volume at the foreign exchange portal of the Bankers Association of the Philippines reached $715.27 million from $847.3 million. DMS
