PSE index closes above 8,000 pts; peso at P52.12:$1

The Philippine stock index returned to the psychologically important mark of 8,000 points while the peso gained 22 centavos to end at P52.12 against the US dollar Thursday.
The Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) index closed at 8,007.48 points, up 27.53 points. In the broader market, there were 110 decliners, 47 gainers and 41 shares unchanged.
Volume reached 2.67 billion shares worth P10.8 billion from Wednesday's 2.38 billion shares valued at P9.62 billion.
Most active shares were led by Ayala Land, up 1.49 percent to P44.40; Greenenerggy Holdings, up 33.48 percent to P2.99 and BDO, down 0.74 percent to P135.
Volume at the foreign exchange portal of the Bankers Association of the Philippines $1.014 billion from $933.32 million on Wednesday. DMS
