PSE index dips, but peso gains vs US dollar

The main Philippine share index ended lower on Thursday after gains in the last three sessions.
The peso finished at P51.74 against the US dollar from P50.885 on Wednesday. Volume at the foreign exchange portal of the Bankers Association of the Philippines reached $1.160 billion from the previous session's $1.049 billion.
The Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) index closed at 7,977.12 points, down 42.94 points. In the broader market, there were 100 losers, 78 gainers and 61 unchanged.
Volume reached 1.1 billion shares worth P7.76 billion from Wednesday's 1.13 billion shares valued at P5.99 billion.
Most active shares were led by SM Investment Corp., up P3.00 to P1,030; BPI, down P2.90 to P97 and SM Prime, down five centavos to P39. DMS
