PSE index down, peso gains vs US dollar

The main Philippine share index closed lower but the peso gained against the US dollar on Tuesday.
The peso closed at P50.89 from Monday's P51.09. Volume at the foreign exchange portal of the Bankers Association of the Philippines reached $1.124 billion from $767.25 million.
The Philippine Stock Exchange ( PSE) index finished at 8,150.46 points, down 38.06. In the broader market, there were 115 losers, 85 gainers while 49 shares were unchanged.
Volume reached 754.80 million shares worth P6.87 billion from Monday's 667.34 million shares valued at P4.84 billion.
Most active shares were led by SM Investment Corp., down P7.00 to P1,013; SM Prime, down 70 centavos to P37.50; Semirara Mining and Power Corp., down 60 centavos to P23.30, and Jollibee, up P2.20 to P255. DMS
