PSE index down, peso gains vs US dollar

The main Philippine share index ended lower on Monday.
The peso settled at P50.63 against the US dollar from Friday's 50.92. Volume at the foreign exchange portal reached $1.468 billion from $1.684 billion on Friday.
The Philippine Stock Exchange ( PSE) index finished at 6,749.28, down 38.63 points. In the broader market, there were 129 losers, 69 gainers and 46 unchanged.
Volume reached 946.27 million shares valued at P6.52 billion from Friday's 1,1 billion shares worth P11.39 billion.
Most active shares were led by Ayala Corp., down P13 to P649.50; BDO, down P6.90 to P132.10 and SM Investment Corp., down P14.50 to P960. DMS
