PSE index down, peso gains vs US dollar

The Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) index lost ground but the peso gained against the US dollar on Tuesday.
The PSE index closed at 7,833.75 points, down 76.83 points. In the broader market, there were 132 decliners, 84 gainers and 39 shares unchanged.
The peso closed at P52.21, up 12 centavos from Monday's close. Volume at the foreign exchange portal of the Bankers Association of the Philippines reached $885.6 million from the previous day's $816.3 million.
PSE volume reached 2.8 billion shares worth P8.1 billion from Monday's 1.39 billion shares valued at P11.07 billion.
Most active shares were led by Ayala Land, down 3.7 percent to P43; BDO, down 3.22 percent to P129.20, Vista Land, down 6.25 percent to P7.50 and Megawide, up 0.43 percent to P18.58. DMS
