PSE index ends above 8,000 points

The main Philippine share index breached the 8,000-point mark as it ended higher on Wednesday.
The peso ended at P50.885 against the US dollar from Tuesday's P51.09. Volume at the foreign exchange portal of the Bankers Association of the Philippines reached $1.049 billion from $1.035 billion on the previous session.
The Philippine Stock Exchange ( PSE) index closed at 8,020.06 points, up 28.87 points. In the broader market, there were 90 gainers, 80 losers and 54 unchanged.
Volume reached 1.13 billion shares worth P5.99 billion from Tuesday's 709.44 million shares valued at P6.63 billion.
Most active shares were led by SM Investment Corp., unchanged at P1,027; Metrobank, up P1.45 to P67.45 and SM Prime, up five centavos to P39.05. DMS
