PSE index ends lower, peso at P49.98:$1

The Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) ended lower on Wednesday.
But the peso closed below the P50 to the US dollar, ending the day at P49.98 from Tuesday's P50.19. Volume at the foreign exchange portal of the Bankers Association of the Philippines (BAP) reached $671.3 million from $891.8 million.
The PSE index closed 108.05 lower to 6,188.83. In the broader market, there were 121 losers, 83 gainers and 33 unchanged.
Volume reached 3.8 billion shares worth P6.64 billion from Tuesday's 1.31 billion shares valued at P7,31 billion.
Most active shares were led by Ayala Land, down P2.25 to P34.05; Emperador, up four centavos to P8.05; MerryMart, down 19 centavos to P3.52 and Alliance Global, up five centavos to P7.05. DMS
