PSE index ends lower, peso up slightly vs US dollar

The main Philippine share index declined while the peso gained slightly against the US dollar on Tuesday.
The peso settled at P50.951 from P51.08 on Monday. Volume at the foreign exchange portal of the Bankers Association of the Philippines reached $1.499 billion from $1.00 billion in the previous day.
The Philippine Stock Exchange ( PSE) index closed at 7,855.18, down 22.01 points. In the broader market, there were 90 gainers, 88 losers and 53 unchanged.
Volume reached 480.81 million shares worth P5.06 billion from Monday's 1.28 billion shares valued at P5.31 billion.
Most active shares were led by Ayala Land, up 25 centavos to P47.25; BPI, up 85 centavos to P87.25 and SM Investment Corp., down P11 to P1,069. DMS
