PSE index ends week above 8,100 points

Philippine stocks ended the week on strong note on Friday as the main share index closed 1.71 percent higher.
The Philippine Stock Exchange index settled at 8, 144.16 points, up 136.68 points. In the broader market, there were 171 gainers, 49 decliners and 36 shares unchanged.
Volume reached 2.42 billion shares worth P8.97 billion from Thursday's 2.67 billion shares valued at P10.81 billion shares.
Most active shares were led by Ayala Land, up 1.24 percent to P44.95; BDO, up 3.7 percent to P140 and SM Prime, up 2.89 percent to P39.20.
The peso declined by 12 centavos to P52.23 against the US dollar. Volume at the foreign exchange portal of the Bankers Association of the Philippines reached $869.3 million from Thursday's $1.014 billion. DMS
