PSE index ends with slim gains

The Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) index reversed course from a weak opening to end slightly higher on Tuesday.
The peso closed at P50.50 against the US dollar from Monday's P50.58. Volume at the foreign exchange portal of the Bankers Association of the Philippines reached $879 million from the previous session's $771.1 million.
Down by 208.86 points as trading began at 9:30 am, the PSE index rose to as high as 74.58 points. The index ended 5.77 points higher at 6,318.38 points.
In the broader market, there were 136 losers, 74 gainers and 36 unchanged.
Volume reached 774.46 million shares worth P7.6 billion from Monday's 1.15 billion shares valued at P6.31 billion.
Most active shares were led by SM Prime, down 60 centavos to P35.50; Ayala Land, down 65 centavos to P37.10; ICTSI, up P3 to P92; BDO, up P8 to P139. DMS
