PSE index flat, peso gains vs US dollar

The main Philippine stock index ended flat ahead of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas' policy rate announcement on Thursday.
The peso closed at P52.11 against the US dollar from P52.211. Volume at the foreign exchange portal of the Bankers Association of the Philippines reached $1.147 billion from $1.041 billion.
The Philippine Stock Exchange ( PSE) index ended at 7,896.48, up 0.24 points. In the broader market, there were 107 gainers, 80 losers and 57 shares unchanged.
Volume reached 773.24 million shares worth P5.69 billion from Wednesday's 617.20 million shares valued at P5.78 billion,
Most active shares were led by Ayala Land, up 15 centavos to P49.35; Ayala Corp., down P8.00 to P900 and Alliance Global, unchanged at P11.30. DMS
