PSE index higher, peso flat against US dollar

The main Philippine share index ended higher while the peso settled flat against the US dollar on Tuesday.
The peso closed at P51.09 from the previous session's P51.08. Volume at the foreign exchange portal of the Bankers Association of the Philippines reached P1.035 billion from the previous' P665.3 million.
The Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) closed at 7,991.19, up 44.66 points. In the broader market, there were 97 gainers, 81 loser and 56 unchanged.
Volume reached 709.44 million shares worth P6.63 billion from Monday's 1.36 billion shares valued at P5.88 billion.
Most active shares were led by SM Investment Corp., up P3.00 to P1,027.50; Metrobank, up 66 centavos to P66 and BDO, up 10 centavos to P152.10. DMS
