PSE index loses steam, ends with reduced gains

The main Philippine share index surged more than two percent but settled for lower gains at the close of trading on Tuesday.
The peso closed at P50.90 against the US dollar from P51.33 on Monday. Volume at the foreign exchange portal of the Bankers Association of the Philippines reached $563.9 million from $422.7 million.
The Philippine Stock Exchange(PSE) index closed at 4,774.27 points, up 30.90. The index was 105.94 points up 30 minutes before trading ended on at 1 pm.
In the broader market, there were 114 gainers, 68 losers and 31 unchanged.
Volume reached 565.34 million shares worth P5.08 billion from Monday's 413.31 million shares valued at P5.68 billion.
Most active shares were led by Ayala Land, up P1.60 to P29.10; Ayala Corp., up P24.50 to P439.60; SM Prime, up 80 centavos to P25.50 and BDO, down 70 centavos to P94. DMS
