PSE index lower, peso gains vs US dollar

The main Philippine share index ended lower while the peso gained against the US dollar on Wednesday.
The peso settled at P50.57 against the greenback from P50.695 on Tuesday. V9lume at the foreign exchange portal of the Bankers Association of the Philippines reached $813.67 million from the previous day's $662.5 million.
The Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) index closed 56.30 points lower to 7.383.10. In the broader market, there were 122 losers, 63 gainers and 51 unchanged.
Volume reached 1.314 billion shares worth P6.07 billion from Tuesday's 1.3 billion valued at P4.48 billion.
Most active shares were led by Ayala Land, down five centavos to P43; ISM Communications, down 25 centavos to P1.98 and SM Prime, down 40 centavos to P42.30. DMS
