PSE index lower, peso slightly up vs US dollar

The main Philippine share index ended lower while the peso was slightly higher against the US dollar on Wednesday.
The peso settled at P50.87 from P50.90 on Tuesday. Volume at the foreign exchange portal of the Bankers Association of the Philippines reached $947.5 million from $959.75 million.
The Philippine Stock Exchange index finished at 7,898.06, down 14.08 points. In the broader market, there were 106 losers, 72 gainers and 52 unchanged.
Volume reached 1.73 billion shares worth P4.13 billion from Tuesday's 1.32 billion shares valued at P6.2 billion.
Most traded issues are Ayala Land, up 70 centavos to P45.70; DMCI, down 64 centavos to P6.98. Ayala Corp., down P3.00 to P824 and Semirara Mining, down P1.55 to P21.85. DMS
