PSE index, peso end higher

The main Philippine share index closed higher on Wednesday.
The peso finished at P50.54 against the US dollar from P50.645. Volume at the foreign exchange portal of the Bankers Association of the Philippines reached $98.3 million from $933.9 million in the previous day.
The Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) index ended at 7,396.94, up 74.05 points. In the broader market, there were 101 gainers, 91 losers and 48 unchanged.
Volume reached 821.16 million shares worth P6.49 billion from Tuesday's 503.9 million shares valued at P3.96 billion.
Most active shares were led by SM Investment Corp., up P26 to P1,038; Ayala Land, up P1.10 to P42.20; SM Prime, down 60 centavos to P41.10 and Jollibee, down P1.20 to P184. DMS
