PSE index, peso end lower

The main Philippine share index and the peso closed lower on Monday.
The peso finished at P52.02 against the US dollar from P51.865 on Friday. Volume at the foreign exchange portal of the Bankers Association of the Philippines amounted to $870.39 million from the previous session's $919.84 million.
The Philippine Stock Exchange ( PSE) index settled at 7,908.99 points, down 81.21 points. In the broader market, there were 136 decliners, 70 gainers while 43 shares were unchanged.
Volume reached 663.59 million shares worth P5.02 billion from Friday's 920.04 million shares valued at P7.68 billion.
Most active shares were led by Ayala Corp., down 50 centavos to P899.50; PLDT, down P35 to P1195 and Ayala Land, unchanged at P50.50. DMS
