PSE index, peso end lower

The main stock index and the peso ended lower on Monday.
The peso settled at P51.076 against the US dollar from P51.04 on Friday. Volume at the foreign exchange portal of the Bankers Association of the Philippines amounted to $725.91 million from Friday's $1.094 billion.
The Philippine Stock Exchange ( PSE) index closed at 8,246.83 points, down 23.24 points. In the broader market, there were 103 losers, 83 gainers and 61 shares unchanged.
Volume reached 862.56 million shares worth P5.99 billion from Friday's 1.46 billion shares valued at 6.74 billion.
Most active shares are led by SM Investment Corp., down P6.50 to P983; Ayala Corp., up P20 to P970 and SM Prime, down 80 centavos to P37.90. DMS
