PSE index, peso end lower

The main Philippine stock index closed lower on Wednesday.
The peso ended at P50.715 against the US dollar from P50.581 on Tuesday. Volume at the foreign exchange portal of the Bankers Association of the Philippines reached $1.25 billion from $1.408 billion on the previous day.
The Philippine Stock Exchange ( PSE) index finished at 7,664.40, down 128.85. In the broader market, there were 118 losers, 76 gainers and 35 unchanged.
Volume reached 667.02 million shares worth P7.04 billion from Tuesday's 831.82 million shares valued at P9.88 billion.
Most active shares were led by SM Prime, down 35 centavos to P40.70; BDO, down P1.50 to P153.20 and PLDT, down P30 to P1,082. DMS
