PSE index, peso end lower after recent gains

The main Philippine share index closed lower for the first time in three sessions on Monday.
The peso did the same against the US dollar, settling at P51.641 from Monday's P51.57. Volume at the foreign exchange portal of the Bankers Association of the Philippines reached $1.366 billion from $1.172 billion on the previous day.
The Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) ended at 7,840.31 points, down 43.98. In the broader market, there were 111 losers, 65 gainers and 63 shares unchanged.
Volume reached 631.01 million shares worth P4.6 billion from Monday's 479.84 million shares valued at P3.76 billion.
Most active shares were led by Metro Pacific, down 16 centavos to P4.90; Ayala Corp., up P1.00 to P878.50 and SM Investment Corp., down P 15 to P995. DMS
