PSE index, peso gain

The Philippine stock index and the peso ended higher on Wednesday.
The peso gained 10 centavos to P51.89 against the US dollar from Tuesday. Volume at the foreign exchange portal of the Bankers Association of the Philippines reached $902.45 million from the previous session's $763.9 million.
The Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) index closed at 8,017.01 points, up 94.97 points. In the broader market, there were 106 gainers, 81 losers while 53 shares were unchanged.
Volume reached 1.33 billion shares worth P7.3 billion from Tuesday's 1.66 billion shares valued at P7.96 billion.
Most active shares were led by Ayala Corp., unchanged at P900; Metrobank, up P1.65 to P74.25, SM Prime, up 30 centavos to P38.40 and PLDT, up P53 to P1,231. DMS
