PSE index, peso gain

The main stock index recovered from Wednesday to end higher while the peso ended higher against the US dollar on Thursday.
The peso closed at P51. 11 from Wednesday's P51.175. Volume at the foreign exchange portal of the Bankers Association of the Philippines reached $831.85 million from $1.167 billion.
The Philippine Stock Exchange ( PSE) index settled at 8, 272.18 points, up 110.69 points. But in the broader market, there were 124 losers, 79 gainers while 48 were unchanged.
Volume reached 894.31 million shares valued at P8.27 billion from Wednesday's 2.89 billion shares worth P6.44 billion.
Most active shares were led by Jollibee, down P15 to P236; Ayala Corp., up P13 to P980; BDO, up P4.40 to P151.90 and SMIC, up P25 to P1,015. DMS
